MagTap: Internet based monitoring for Magnum brand inverters and accessories

Off Grid Options presents the MagTap -APRS World's powerful and cost effective tool for remotely monitoring Magnum brand inverters and accessories. The MagTap installs on the Magnum network and provides live Internet monitoring of the inverter, battery monitor, and automatic generator start module. Using your always on Internet connection, the MagTap makes live and historical conditions available to you through a web browser and our WorldData service. Requires an Ethernet jack at the MagTap.

Installation

The MagTap is easy to install and inexpensive because it does not require any additional sensors. It uses the sensors already built into your Magnum brand inverter and accessories. The MagTap has two RJ-11 (phone type) jacks and a power jack. Installation takes only a few minutes and consists of snapping in a few cables to the MagTap module and your Magnum Remote. Magnum does not allow third party modules to be powered by the inverter's built in power supply, so a power source that can supply less than a watt at 7 to 76 volts DC is required. The power source can be the batteries that power your inverter or an inexpensive external AC to DC power supply.

WorldData and Web Display

Through APRS World, LLC, Off Grid Options offers our World Data service for our customers (see pricing above). Using an optional internet gateway module, our products can send live data to our hosted data service. Using your web browser you can view live and historical performance data and graphs. This allows your customer to see how their system is performing and allows you to troubleshoot the system without going on-site.

Communications Options

A choice of two communication options is available. An always-on internet connection is required for both options. Click here if the Wireless 802.15.4 is the better choice for your application.
